Export writes exactly what you are looking at. Open the Export button on the Trades filter bar (or Settings → Data, or the download button on the mobile trades screen) and the dialog opens with a sentence like “Exporting 43 of 512 trades — the filters you have applied are included”, followed by the list of those filters. If you want the whole book instead, one click switches to it.
This is a change from how it used to behave. The old export ignored the filter bar and always wrote every trade in the account, with nothing on screen saying so — if you exported a filtered view before this release, the file you got was the whole account.
Formats
- JSON — the complete backup, including notes and partial fills. This is the file you can import back into Ledger of Alpha. Included on Essential and Pro.
- CSV — opens in any spreadsheet. Pro.
- Excel (.xlsx) — a real workbook, numbers stay numbers. Pro.
Layouts (CSV and Excel)
- Ledger backup — raw field names. This is the layout you can import back in.
- Standard — readable headers, with fees, return % and R alongside the basics.
- Accountant / prop firm — what, when, quantity, cost basis, proceeds, fees and net P&L, and none of the journal.
- Choose columns — pick exactly what leaves, from every field the app holds.
The readable layouts are for reading. To re-import a file later, export it as JSON or with the Ledger backup layout — a file with pretty headers is not recognised as a backup.
Fees on partial fills
A trade you scaled into or out of stores its cost on the individual fills, not in the commission field. Exports now read that total, so a scaled trade no longer shows up as if it had been free.
The performance report
Generate in the export dialog opens a report for the same selection in a new tab: P&L, win rate, expectancy, months, symbols, sides, sessions, holding times, costs, plan adherence and — when captured — your MFE/MAE figures, with the filters you used printed at the top.
To keep or send it as a PDF: press Print / Save as PDF at the top of the report and choose Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF) as the destination. The instruction bar does not appear in the printed document.
The report is a summary of the trades you recorded. It carries the note that past performance is not indicative of future results, and it is a record-keeping document — not advice, and not a claim about what any strategy will do.

- Free — no trade export (the GDPR download of all your data is always available).
- Essential — JSON export of your trades.
- Pro — CSV, Excel, choosing your columns, and the report.
On a free trial you can spend your single Pro unlock on the export tools and keep them for the rest of the trial.
