Reporting a bug or suggesting a feature

How to tell us something is broken, and exactly what gets sent with your report.

If something looks wrong, or you want the app to do something it doesn't, tell us from inside the app — you don't have to find an email address, and the report arrives with the details we'd otherwise have to ask you for.

Where to find it

  • On desktop — open the user menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Report a problem.
  • On your phone — open the menu and choose Report a problem.
  • From the Help Center — every article ends with a Report a problem button, and so does the Help Center home page.

Pick Something's broken for a bug and Suggest something for an idea. Both land in the same place; the label just tells us how to read it.

What gets sent with your report

A bug report is only useful with a little context, so a few things are attached automatically. The modal lists them before you send, and this is the whole list:

  • The page you were on. Its address only — any filters or ids in the link are reduced to their names.
  • Your app version and plan. So a report can be tied to the exact build that produced it.
  • Your browser, screen size, timezone and language. Most display bugs are one of these four.
  • How many trades and accounts you have. The counts only — never a trade, a symbol, a price or a note.

Your trades are never attached. We send the number of trades and accounts you have — because “this is slow” reads differently at 40 trades and at 4,000 — but never a symbol, a price, a note or a journal entry. Links are stripped of their values too: a report from /trades?symbol=AAPL is recorded as /trades?symbol.

Writing a report we can act on

  • What you expected, and what happened instead. The gap between the two is the bug.
  • Where. The screen name, and what you clicked to get there.
  • Which trade kind. Stock, option, futures — most number bugs are specific to one.
  • When. If it happened once at a particular moment, say roughly when.

For a suggestion, describe the problem rather than the feature you have in mind. Knowing what you were trying to do usually produces a better answer than the one that was asked for.

What happens next

Every report goes into a queue that is worked through — new, then triaged, then done — rather than an inbox. We read all of them. If yours needs a reply we'll email the address on your account; you won't get an automatic acknowledgement for every one.

You can send up to ten reports a day. If you're signed out or exploring in guest mode there's no account to attach a report to — support@ledgerofalpha.com reaches the same people.

Your reports are your data

Anything you send is stored against your account, so it is included in your data export and removed when you delete your account. See Exporting your data and Deleting your account.

For account, billing or privacy questions, email support@ledgerofalpha.com or use the Contact page — those need a conversation, not a queue.

Ask the support assistant

Answers come from the Help Center articles on this site — it can explain how the app works, not how to trade.
