The weekly review — a guided pass over a period

Work through a week or a month: what still needs rating, the trades worth a second look, three questions, and one thing to do differently.

Review is a guided walk through one week or one month of your closed trades — the step between recording a trade in your journal and reading the totals on Analytics. It is on Essential and Pro.

Weeks and months are the only two periods, on purpose. A single day rarely holds enough trades to conclude anything from, and a pass you are asked to write every evening is one most people stop doing in a fortnight — day-by-day reflection belongs in the note on the trade itself. A quarter or a year is a retrospective, not a habit.

What a review is made of

  • The numbers — net P&L, trades, win rate, profit factor, average R and trading days for that period, plus how much of it you have actually written down (rated, written up, state logged).
  • The pass — the trades worth your time, in order. Anything still unrated or without a note comes first, then your biggest winner and loser, trades carrying a logged mistake or nothing that says they were planned, and the excursion outliers (see MFE / MAE). You rate and write up each one in place; nothing sends you off to another page and back.
  • Three questions — what went the way you intended, what did not and why, and what pattern the numbers show.
  • One thing you will do differently. This is the important one.

Why the one action matters

Your next review opens with what you committed to last time and asks whether you did it. You answer — the app never marks it kept for you, because it has no way of knowing. Read top to bottom, the list under What you committed to is the only place that shows you what you keep promising yourself.

The streak, and what counts

A period counts once you press Finish review. Answers save as you type, so nothing is lost if you close the tab, but a half-written draft is not a kept habit and does not count. Only completed periods are counted — the week or month you are currently in is never counted as missed.

Reminders

When a period closes with trades in it and no finished review, you get one Review reminder — once for that period, never repeated. Periods you did not trade in never produce one. Turn it off per-kind under Settings → Notifications.

Things worth knowing

  • Every number is recalculated as you look at it. A review stores your words and the period they belong to — nothing else. Correct a trade later and the review reads the corrected figure rather than quoting a stale one.
  • Long periods are capped. A month with hundreds of trades shows the ones most worth a second look and says how many it left out. Step back a week at a time for the rest.
  • The account switcher scopes it. A review of one account and a review of the whole book are separate records for the same week. Delete an account and the reviews you wrote move to the whole book rather than disappearing.
  • Goals with a matching period are scored against the same window and shown on the page — see Trading goals.

Looking at the chart first

Every trade in the pass has a chart button. It opens that trade's candles with your entry and exit marked, and a timeframe switcher — so you can see what actually happened before you write anything down.

  • By default the chart floats over the page, so opening one never shifts the row you were reading. Close it with Escape, a click outside, or the button again.
  • Prefer it inside the card, so you can read the chart and type the note at once? Switch it in Settings → Appearance → Display Options.
  • For an options trade the chart shows the underlying without your entry and exit lines — those are premiums, and drawing them on the stock's candles would put a $5 line on a $325 chart.

Taking a trade off the list

Some trades genuinely don't need a write-up — a fat-finger, a broker adjustment, a two-share remainder. Dismiss one (the crossed-eye button) and it leaves this period's pass.

  • It changes the list, not the numbers. The trade still counts in net P&L, the win rate, the trade count and every analytic — dismissing is about your attention, not your record.
  • It applies to this period only, and it's reversible: Bring them back restores everything you dismissed.
  • The trade itself is untouched — nothing is deleted or hidden anywhere else in the app.

Goals on this page

The goals strip follows your account switcher. With one account selected you see that account's goals, plus any goal that covers your whole book — those carry a whole book tag and are scored across every account, not just the one you're looking at, so the number means what it says.
