The chart page can show one, two or four charts at once. The control sits in the toolbar, to the left of the Studio / TradingView switch — one square, two, or a block of four.
The panes are your tabs
A split does not create new charts. It stops hiding the ones you already have open: each pane is one of the tabs along the top, in tab order, starting from the tab you have selected. So the way to change what is in a pane is to change the tab — click the pane, then pick a symbol or open a new tab. If you have fewer tabs than panes, the empty ones offer to add a chart. Tabs are named after the ticker they are showing, so the strip doubles as an index of what is on screen — unless you rename one yourself, which sticks.
The grid shows a page of tabs. With four panes and six tabs, panes one to four are the first page and clicking between them moves nothing; selecting the fifth tab turns the page.
One drawing rail, one toolbar
The drawing tools run down the left edge of the whole chart area, full height, whether you have one pane or four. They act on the focused pane and the rail is labelled with its ticker when a split is on.
Each pane keeps its own tool selection: arming a trend line on one chart and then clicking another does not arm a trend line there — the rail shows that pane's own selection instead. The top toolbar (timeframe, indicators, settings) belongs to the focused pane and moves with it, because four full toolbars would be four cramped charts. The other panes show a small ticker badge and their chart legend.
⚠ Entry, SL and TP belong to ONE pane
The three price boxes at the top of the page write to the focused pane — the one with the highlighted border. When a split is on, the boxes are labelled with that pane's symbol, so you can always see which instrument a stop is about to land on. Click any pane to move the focus; the boxes follow it.
Everything else stays per-pane: each chart keeps its own timeframe, indicators and saved drawings. Drawings are stored per symbol, so two panes on the same ticker show the same drawings.
How many panes each plan includes
- Free — one chart.
- Essential — two side by side.
- Pro — up to four.
The layouts your plan does not include stay visible and say what unlocks them. Your choice is remembered per browser, not per account, because a laptop and a large monitor want different answers — and it is capped by your plan on every visit, so a layout chosen on a higher plan will not keep running after a change.
A note on splitting on a phone
The control is hidden on small screens. Two charts on a phone is two charts you cannot read.
